Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown signing extension, making him highest-paid WRs

Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown is signing a MASSIVE extension that makes him the highest-paid receivers in the NFL.

The Detroit Lions and Amon-Ra St. Brown have reportedly agreed on a four-year, “more than” $120 million extension that makes the All Pro the highest-paid wide receiver in football. According to NFL Network, the deal comes with $77 million. The previous high for a receiver contract was Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill’s four-year, $120 million—although Hill only had $72.2 million guaranteed.

It’s a well-deserved raise for St. Brown after the 24 year old spent three seasons on a cost-controlled rookie contract as a fourth-round pick. On that original contract, St. Brown earned just a $785,260 signing bonus, and didn’t have a base salary above $1 million in either of his first three seasons.

Despite the low earnings, St. Brown has been one of the most productive receivers in football since coming into the league in 2021. In the past three seasons, St. Brown ranks eighth among wide receivers in yards (3,588), fifth in receptions (315), and 13th in receiving touchdowns (21). If we limit that to just the past two seasons, St. Brown ranks fifth in yards, third in receptions, and seventh in touchdowns.

St. Brown has also made the Pro Bowl in each of the last two seasons and earned first-team All Pro this past year.

His impact goes beyond production on the field, as well. The Lions receiver is a tone-setter during the week of practices in the lead up to each game. His work ethic is unmatched, and several players and coaches have commented on how that approach has a trickle-down effect to the entire team.

“Watch him in practice. He works like that every day,” coach Dan Campbell said back in January. “He works like he wants to be the best and he believes he can be the best. And so, man, you can’t have enough of those guys. I mean, how do you fail when you have guys like that?”

Congratulations to St. Brown on a well-earned, significant raise.
