Best reactions to Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell contract extensions

A look at how Lions teammates and other NFL players reacted to Amon-Ra St. Brown’s and Penei Sewell’s contract extensions.

In a historic day in franchise history, the Detroit Lions gave a pair of record-setting contracts to receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and offensive tackle Penei Sewell. Both members of the 2021 NFL Draft class—the first draftees of Lions general manager Brad Holmes—St. Brown and Sewell represent the young, extremely talented core of this Lions franchise. St. Brown is just 24 years old. Sewell is only 23. Now both are the highest-paid players at their position.

Of course, the internet both locally and nationally was abuzz after the news of both extensions were made public.

The players themselves

Who better to hear from first than the new multi-millionaires? Almost instantly, St. Brown added this message to his story on Instagram:

“At Ford Field. It’s empty. Usually, it’s rockin’. I can’t wait. I’m here four more years. It’s up. It’s turnt. Detroit, what up, doe?”

Look at that smile.

Sewell was a bit more reserved, opting for just a single tweet regarding the news, and a photo worth a thousand words on Instagram.
