‘Tarkov’ Developers Accuse ‘Arena Breakout Infinite’ Of Plagiarism

Following

It seems like a bad day for Escape From Tarkov developer Battlestate Games is getting worse, as the company’s X account has posted a tweet accusing new extraction shooter Arena Breakout Infinite of plagiarism.

The tweet was posted by the Battlestate Games X account and referred to Arena Breakout Infinite as the “blatant plagiarist game” and suggested that players would not want to play for more than 20 minutes.

The post featured a screenshot of a tweet made earlier in the day by the Arena Breakout Infinite account that was trying to capitalize on the anger of Tarkov fans at the latest update, and offered the chance to increase the capacity of the upcoming closed beta by 10,000 players if goals were hit on their trailer.

While there are clear similarities between the two games, there is currently no suggestion as to exactly what Battlestate Games believes is plagiarised.

Being accused of plagiarism isn’t great on paper for Arena Breakout Infinite, however, the publicity they will get from this will surely be worth it. Prior to the tweet, I knew very little about the game, but now I’ve watched the trailer and will likely try it out when the beta launches early next month as it looks like an interesting competitor to Tarkov. The base Arena Breakout game is a mobile title that also shares similarities to Tarkov.

Many top Tarkov influencers and even some from the wider gaming world have replied to the tweet, which is being ratioed pretty heavily on X.

This comes off the back of Battlestate Games releasing a new version of Escape From Tarkov that many fans have called pay to win. The new Unheard Edition, which launched today, includes bonuses that many fans feel give an unfair advantage to players in the game.

It also features a brand new PvE mode that is exclusive to the new edition, despite owners of the old Edge of Darkness edition being promised all future DLC content for free. Battlestate Games is arguing that the new mode is a feature and not DLC, however many in the community feel that this is them going back on the promise of giving Edge of Darkness owners new content for free.

In another tweet, the Escape From Tarkov account has promised that Edge of Darkness owners will get further content as part of their edition, but will not be getting the new PvE mode unless they upgrade to the new edition of the game.
