Video: Drake Maye Gets WWE Patriots Championship from Kofi Kingston After NFL Draft

Former WWE champion Kofi Kingston presented quarterback Drake Maye with a custom belt after the New England Patriots made him the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft on Thursday.

Kingston, who is a longtime Patriots fan, met with Maye and handed him a Patriots-inspired championship belt, which is part of WWE's popular NFL title belt collection:

Kofi, 42, is one of the most decorated Superstars in WWE history. In addition to being a one-time WWE champion, he is a four-time Intercontinental champion and three-time United States champion. Also, including the main roster and NXT, Kingston has held tag team titles a record 15 times, with most of those reigns coming as a member of New Day.

Fittingly, Kingston is a fan of the most decorated franchise in NFL history, as the Pats are tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl wins of all time with six.

New England has fallen on hard times since the departure of legendary quarterback Tom Brady, though, reaching the playoffs just once in the past four seasons and going 4-13 last season.

The Patriots are hopeful they have found their franchise savior in Maye, who starred collegiately at North Carolina and seemingly has all the tools teams look for in a quarterback.

Maye was the third quarterback off the board after the Chicago Bears took Caleb Williams and the Washington Commanders selected Jayden Daniels, but the possibility remains that he could develop into the best quarterback in the draft, and if that happens, the Pats will be back on track.
