Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defeated The Kabuki Warriors at Backlash on Saturday to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

The EST of WWE and The Storm used some teamwork to put the champions away.

♥️🥹🏆. I want to say this with my chest….and this is me being the most vulnerable…as a person who has a target on her back all the time. The ones who are happy for me. Thank you. This is such an amazing moment in my career…in 3 years. What I have accomplished. God is great.

Cargill delivered Jaded to Kairi Sane, while Belair followed up with the K.O.D. on Asuka, dropping her on top of her teammate.

Saturday's contest marked the continuation of a rivalry that reached a fever pitch leading up to WrestleMania 40, resulting in a six-woman tag team match pitting Belair, Cargill and Naomi against Damage CTRL.

Prior to The Show of Shows, Naomi interjected herself into Damage CTRL's rivalry with Bayley in an effort to even the odds. Belair was reluctant to step in due to her past issues with The Role Model, but she ultimately did so in support of Naomi.

With Bayley and Iyo Sky branching off, Damage CTRL had the numbers advantage over Belair and Naomi, so Cargill stepped up to make it a fair fight.

The EST, Cargill and The Glow went on to beat Asuka, Sane and Dakota Kai on The Grandest Stage of Them All, laying the groundwork for Belair and The Storm to challenge Asuka and Sane for the tag titles.

Since signing Cargill last year, WWE has been easing her into action. She did not make her in-ring debut until she competed in the women's Royal Rumble match in January, and the six-woman tag at 'Mania was only her second bout in WWE.

Pairing Cargill with Belair seemed like a concerted effort on WWE's part to put the former All Elite Wrestling star alongside an accomplished name capable of guiding her to the next level.

On top of that, Asuka and Sane are two of the best in-ring workers in the women's division, and working with them should help Cargill's development as well.

Given how well they worked together at WrestleMania, it felt like Belair and Cargill had a legitimate opportunity to knock off The Kabuki Warriors.

That is exactly what happened at Backlash, as Belair became a tag team champion for the first time and Cargill won her first title of any kind in WWE.
