Origin Effects Introduces the Cali76 Bass Compressor Pedal
Origin Effects has updated its Cali76 line of compressor pedals with the Cali76 FET Compressor and the Cali76 Bass Compressor. The two new units replace the Cali76 Compact Deluxe and Cali76 Compact Bass, keeping all the tone of their predecessors while featuring a smaller enclosure, improved metering, and more.
“First up, the new compressors are housed in an even smaller, pedalboard-friendly enclosure. A 10-LED bar graph gives accurate gain reduction metering, while internally increased voltage guarantees massive headroom from a standard 9VDC power supply,” Origin writes. “Good news for home producers who want to use the Cali76 with line level signals. Origin Effects have also made some subtle changes to the compressor’s sidechain, which results in a dynamic response much closer to those coveted “large-format” pedals.”
The Cali76 Bass Compressor, inspired by the vintage Urei 1176 studio compressor, features an all-analog circuit. Its control set includes a Dry knob for parallel compression and an improved sidechain similar to that of Origin’s “large format” Cali76.
