A Borussia Dortmund star was blasted by Spanish newspaper MARCA for showing a perceived "lack of respect" towards his team's Champions League final opponents Real Madrid.
Dortmund and Real Madrid will meet in the UCL's Wembley decider on June 1 after eliminating Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich respectively in the semifinals this week.
This meant that a repeat of the all-German last dance at the same ground in 2013, which Bayern won thanks to a late Arjen Robben strike, could have been a possibility.
Yet the Bavarians lost 2-1 in the Bernabeu to Los Blancos for a 4-3 defeat on aggregate, which meant that Dortmund now has to try and stop Carlo Ancelotti's men clinching a record-extending 15th crown if it wants to lift its second.
Dortmund was the underdog of the knockout phase deemed to be easy pickings, which didn't go unnoticed by the goalscorer in the second leg Mats Hummels, who took to Twitter after a second 1-0 win over PSG.
"So many teams wanted to play against us. Luckily we are really nice guys and made it to the final so that as many as possible of them get the chance," the World Cup winner tweeted.
Backstage at the Parc des Princes, his teammate Julian Ryerson had a devil-may-care attitude towards who he would like to face in the final by saying that Madrid and Bayern are "the same sh*t".
"I don't care," the Norwegian insisted. "We won't be favourites and it won't be easy, no matter who the opponent we face. We're going to go to the final to try and bring the cup home."
While Ryerson might not have meant anything too strong with his words, he has still come into criticism from the Spanish press for his attitude.
It must be noted that the 26-year-old made his comments with a smile on his face, and though his choice of words could have perhaps been better, he was probably trying to transmit a fearless attitude his team has had in already eliminating the likes of Atletico Madrid and PSG than badmouthing its next opponent or domestic rivals Bayern.
In London, Ryerson is likely to be a starter at right back as he was in both legs of the semis home and away.
