'Trump tests limits of law with donor pleas'

A roundup of the headlines from the US front pages

The looming finale of Donald Trump's first criminal trial, and the sideshow outside, make Wednesday's front pages. "Lawyers deliver closing appeals to Trump jurors, The New York Times says, while The Wall Street Journal summarizes the arguments: "State labels Trump a fraudster, defense slams case as meritless." New York's two tabloids front Robert De Niro's appearance outside the courthouse on behalf of President Joe Biden's campaign — the Daily News notes De Niro calling Trump a "crappy hustler" while the New York Post slams De Niro's "Raging Bullsh*t." The Washington Post adds a second Trump legal issue, looking at how he tests the "limit of law with donor pleas" as he "increasingly touts promised policies as he solicits big money."
