State and local officials are investigating after they were called to an alleged assault in progress in Cambridge Friday night.
Police were called to Cambridgepark Drive at about 9:20 p.m. Friday for the report of an ongoing assault, a spokesperson for the Cambridge Police Department said in a statement Saturday.
The victim told officers their attacker was a masked man with a knife.
Police processed the crime scene, which they said was in a restroom of a commercial building, and are searching for the suspect, according to the statement.
Cambridge police are working with State Police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office to gather evidence and identify a suspect. There will also be extra patrols in the area as a “precaution,” Cambridge police said.
The department said Sunday afternoon that they are using “all means and resources” to investigate the reported assault.
