PlayStation today announced a hefty list of games that will be available to customers upon the launch of its new PlayStation Plus tiers. Sony claims this list in incomplete, so expect more titles as the plans’ launch nears, but make no mistake: It’s a giant list, and makes next month’s PlayStation Plus launch all the more exciting.
As a refresher, PlayStation is combining its PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus subscriptions into a new PlayStation Plus service, which includes both online gaming and a long list of “free” games to play (free to play after subscribing to the paid plans, of course). The new service launches in North America on June 13, and provides players with more choices in their online PlayStation experience.
There are now three tiers to choose from: PlayStation Plus Essential, which closely resembles what you’d expect from the old PlayStation Plus subscription; PlayStation Plus Extra, which takes everything from Essential and adds a huge library of about 400 games to play; and PlayStation Plus Premium, which takes everything from the first two tiers and adds an additional 340 titles to play, including via cloud streaming (for markets where cloud streaming is unavailable, there is PlayStation Plus Deluxe).

Time-limited game trials

The major piece of information missing from Sony’s announcement is what free games will be coming to all PlayStation Plus plans for the month of June. Those who plan to subscribe to PlayStation Plus Essential are likely disappointed by this news, since the above list of games mostly applies to Extra and Premium/Deluxe subscribers only. Sony should announce the free June games soon, however, so keep an eye on PS Blog for more details.
