BHUBANESWAR: Admission to undergraduate (UG) courses may get delayed this year as the Plus II board exams were conducted much later than its usual schedule.
Though the state government is trying to normalise the processes of holding classes, admission, exams and publication of results, it will take time for the entire cycle to return to the pre-Covid schedule of the academic calendar.

In 2019, while the Plus II exams were conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) between March 7 and 30, classes of UG or Plus III first year courses began on August 8, 2019.
“It is likely that this year’s UG admission process may get delayed. The ongoing Plus II exams will end on May 31. Then evaluation process will be conducted before publication of results. After that passed out candidates can apply for the UG courses. This entire process is going to be very lengthy this year,” said a teacher of a degree college here.
Though the state government is yet to take a decision on the date of publication of Plus II exam results, students are not likely to get their scores or grades before at least two months.
“Following the publication of results, the application process will begin and several rounds of allotment, including spot rounds, will take place,” said the teacher.
An official of the higher education department said the UG admission depends entirely upon the schedule of publication of Plus II results.
