SAN JOSE — Authorities have identified a woman killed in an April 30 collision involving two cars in San Jose, according to authorities.

Janet Rodriguez, 33, was killed in the evening crash on North Capitol Avenue near Interstate 680, the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office said Friday.

Police said earlier that the crash unfolded when a man driving a SUV exited I-680 and merged onto North Capitol Avenue, then struck a pedestrian. A person driving a second car behind the SUV also hit the pedestrian after the initial crash. The pedestrian was not walking in a marked crosswalk.

Rodriguez was declared dead at the scene. Both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said. There was no indication that either driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The death marked the 17th pedestrian fatality in San Jose this year.
