There are other important aspects and details to consider when buying a new display its size. Of course, "size matters," and that's exactly why Dippi was created.

Dippi is a stylish, free, and open-source, little Linux application that allows you to calculate display information like DPI (dots per inch) and aspect ratio.

In short, it's a great tool to have around if you're currently interested in buying a new laptop or external monitor. The way it works is amazingly simple: you just input a few details such as the aspect ratio, DPI, and a few other details, and the app tells you if the display density is appropriate or not.

The full list of results includes "Very Low DPI", "Fairly Low DPI, "Ideal for LoDPI," "Potentially Problematic," Ideal for HiDPI," "Fairly High for HiDPI," and "Too High DPI."

The app is designed on and developed for GNOME, even though it looks as stylish as the best elementary OS apps out there. What's most amazing about this little app is that it also gives you nice advice regarding different densities.

It also allows you to calculate the display densities for both laptops and desktop displays separately. Dippi can be installed on pretty much any Linux distribution, just as long as it's Flatpak-enabled. You can also build Dippi yourself, in which case, just get GNOME Builder, clone the repository, and simply hit "RUN."

Dippi is a very simple, yet remarkably useful and efficient little application that allows you to calculate display information such as DPI and aspect ratio. It's dead-easy to use, as you only enter the diagonal size, the resolution, and if it's a laptop display or an external display, and the app tells you everything you need to know.

What's new in Dippi 4.0.6:
