Introducing The Bremont Fury

Following

When I think of Bremont watches, I think of simple, clean designs that are striking despite their simplicity. In this regard, Bremont’s new Fury watch did not disappoint me. It’s a simple, round, stainless steel watch with fat lugs that are neither narrow nor flared. Their fat, slightly-curved design puts the Fury somewhere between a totally round watch and one with a fuller-bodied appearance. It’s unique, and it creates a one-of-a-kind look. And with 100 meters of water-resistance, it’s safe to take in the shower and beyond.

The case diameter is 40mm, with a depth of 12.9mm. It’s lightweight, with a medium wrist presence that will be a good fit for most people. The 20mm lug width is on the narrower side, and the leather strap is elegant in its own right. It comes in blue or black to match the watch’s dial, and has a smooth, almost satin-like finish. It’s also stitched around the edges for reinforcement.

The blue or black dial is glossy over most of its surface, but there’s a matte ring around the outside. This ring sports a series of ultra-fine hashes – five of them per minute, or 300 around the entire circumference. The Fury isn’t a tachymeter watch, but it’s a nice visual accent.

The main index sits just at the outside of the glossy area, and has white hashes at the single-minute marks. You’ll also see large Arabic numerals at the hour positions, albeit with a few exceptions. At 12 o’clock, there’s a downward-facing arrow instead of a numeral. At 3 o’clock is a date window, with a background that matches the dial. The power reserve indicator is located at 6 o’clock, and has a red emergency marker that lets you know when you’re getting low. The 3, 9, and 12-o’clock positions are also marked with a Super-LumiNova finish that makes for brilliant night visibility.

The domed, anti-reflective crystal is made from scratch-resistant sapphire. It doesn’t obscure the dial, and the curve is only noticeable when viewed from an oblique angle. The display case back has a flatter design, the better to lay against your wrist. Through it, you can see the inner workings of the ENG365 movement. The ENG365 has a 65-hour power reserve, which is among the best in the industry. You can leave it on a shelf for almost three full days without the need to do any manual winding.
