Cliff Burton Day Stream Announced for 2023

While many bassists celebrate Cliff Burton every day, they’ll have more of a reason on February 10th. The 6th annual Cliff Burton Day, as declared by his hometown of Castro Valley, will take place on what would be the late Metallica bass man’s 61st birthday. Fans around the world can join in the festivities on YouTube as host Nicholas Gomez speaks with Burton’s family and friends about him.

“Interviews include Connie Burton, Lou Martin, Flemming Rasmussen of Sweet Silence Studios, Mike Overton of Trauma, John Gallagher of Raven, Deen Dell of Vio-Lence, Brian Lew and Harald Oimoen from the movie/ book Murder in the Front Row, Photographer Gene Ambo, Castro Valley home town friends Joe Cabral, Judd of Judd’s Barn, and Tony Martin,” a press release states. “Their stories and memories of Cliff are not to be missed and are too in depth to be shared in just one broadcast. Come hang out with us while we share never before heard Cliff stories.”

Jerry Only of The Misfits will be helping to kick things off.

The Cliff Burton Day stream on Gomez’s Youtube channel will take place February 10th at 7pm PST. Limited edition Cliff Burton Day 2023 shirts are on sale now (U.S. and International) with 100% of the proceeds going to the Cliff Burton Music Scholarship, which is awarded by the Burton Family.
