Power has been restored to about 3,500 people in West Seattle who were affected by an outage Friday afternoon when strong winds swept the Puget Sound region.

The National Weather Service said gusts and rain are expected through Saturday with a frontal system that pushed ashore Friday.

About 40 mph winds were forecasted for Seattle at 3 p.m., before tapering Friday evening into Saturday. Winds are strongest along the Washington coast, and from Whidbey Island northward.

What to do if the power goes out

Seattle City Light said crews have restored power in the Admiral area in West Seattle after a tree fell onto wires near 26th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Nevada Street.

Nearly 6,000 Puget Sound Energy and 115 Snohomish County PUD customers were without power about 5:30 p.m., according to outage maps.
