Unranked Sacred Heart Cathedral shocked visiting Archbishop Mitty on Friday night, winning 62-61 in overtime in West Catholic Athletic League play.

Fedrick Pernell made the winning free throw with eight seconds left. He finished with 18 points.

RL Miller, who signed in December to play football at Fresno State, added 15 points as SHC improved to 10-10 overall and 4-6 in league play.

Mitty, No. 5 in the Bay Area News Group rankings, fell to 17-4, 9-2. The Monarchs trail first-place Riordan by a game in the WCAL standings. Riordan visits Mitty on Tuesday.

For SHC, the victory Friday was a major step forward. The Fightin’ Irish lost to Mitty by 38 points last month.

“We can play with anybody,” SHC coach Caesar Smith said. “We’ve gotten blown out a couple of times this year, but it wasn’t for lack of effort. Sometimes another team just has it. But we don’t let it dampen our spirits or bring us down. We just move on to the next game.”

Derek Sangster scored 19 points, Nathan Noronha had 15 points and Gavin Ripp finished with 10 points for Mitty.

No. 2 De La Salle 61, No. 18 California 51

Alec Blair scored 22 points and Evan Wells finished with 14 in De La Salle’s road win over California in an EBAL game. Amari Gray had 14 points and Kellen Torrey added 12 points for California. De La Salle (20-6, 7-2) is the No. 2 seed in the EBAL tournament next week. California (17-9, 5-4) is seeded fourth.

No. 4 Salesian 77, De Anza 32

Emerson Jones scored 12 points in Salesian’s win over visiting De Anza in a Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division game. Malakai Wise had 11 points for De Anza. Salesian is 19-7, 10-0. De Anza fell to 4-20, 0-10.

No. 6 Archbishop Riordan 67, Valley Christian 46

Jasir Rencher scored 16 points and Nathan Tshamala finished with 11 in Riordan’s home win over Valley Christian in WCAL play. Marcus Washington had 14 points for Valley Christian. Riordan improved to 17-4, 10-1. Valley Christian dropped to 7-14, 2-9.

No. 8 San Ramon Valley 68, No. 14 Monte Vista 53

San Ramon Valley won at home against crosstown rival Monte Vista in EBAL play. Luke Isaak scored 15 points, Mason Thomas had 12 points and Parker McClaughry finished with 10 points for SRV. Krishan Shetty scored 15 points and Joshua Matthew had 13 points for Monte Vista. SRV (21-5, 5-4) is the fifth seed in the EBAL tournament. Monte Vista (18-8, 5-4) is seeded No. 7.

No. 10 Pinole Valley 86, St. Mary’s-Berkeley 60

Pinole Valley rolled past visiting St. Mary’s in a TCAL Rock Division game. John Chapple (14 points), Zion Wilburn (14 points) and Isaac Johnson (11 points) scored in double figures for Pinole Valley, which improved to 23-4, 8-2. St. Mary’s fell to 8-15, 2-7.

No. 11 Moreau Catholic 78, Kennedy-Fremont 36

Moreau Catholic, playing on the road in Fremont, extended its winning streak to eight games after beating Kennedy in Mission Valley Athletic League play. Kellen Hampton (20 points), Robert Morgan (11 points) and Lebrie Goudy-Lee (10 points) finished with double-figure scoring for Moreau Catholic, which improved to 17-5, 11-0. Kennedy fell to 14-9, 7-4.

Menlo School 67, The King’s Academy 57

Tate Cohen finished with 16 points and Lucas Vogel had 14 points in Menlo’s road win over The King’s Academy in West Bay Athletic League play. Menlo improved to 10-11, 4-3. TKA dropped to 17-4, 4-3.

No. 2 Archbishop Mitty 82, St. Francis 41

Mitty cruised to its 12th straight win, rolling past visiting St. Francis in WCAL play. McKenna Woliczko (22 points), Maya Hernandez (10 points) and Layla Woods (10 points) scored in double figures for Mitty. which improved to 20-2, 8-0. St. Francis fell to 9-9, 2-4.

No. 6 San Ramon Valley 66, No. 11 Monte Vista 64

San Ramon Valley extended its winning streak to 12 games after escaping with a win over host Monte Vista in EBAL play. Sofia Bowes (25 points), Anneka Lupinek (15 points) and Sierra Chambers (12 points) scored in double figures for San Ramon Valley (22-3, 9-0). Nia Coleman scored 23 points and Sarina Nagra and Mahi Jariwala each finished with 13 points for Monte Vista (19-5, 8-2)

No. 20 Crystal Springs Uplands 54, Priory 38

Crystal Springs Uplands, playing on the road in Portola Valley, stretched its winning streak to eight games after beating Priory in a WBAL Foothill Division game. Caitlyn Kramer scored 12 points, Raelyn Dela Cruz had 10 points and Jemma Lacap finished with eight points for Crystal Springs, which improved to 17-2, 7-0. Priory slipped to 11-8, 3-4.
