Welcome to October, Cancer. While your September horoscope saw you basking in attention, this month, the season of moody makeup, sad girl/boi playlists, and Halloween planning, asks you to turn inward. You're ruled by the intuitive moon, and you're a poetic water sign, so you know a thing or two about introspection. But rather than get caught up in anxiety or ruminating thoughts, your star assignment is to become better about noticing the joy around you and make sure that you don't take anyone for granted.

Communication is the cornerstone of every relationship, but still, talking to roommates, regardless of your relationship, about the mundane aspects of life, such as their music keeping you up, can be daunting. When messenger Mercury enters balance-oriented Libra and your 4th House of Home and Family on Wednesday, October 4, the stars challenge you to talk to a partner or roommate about sleep habits or other everyday but important details of your relationships. Taking care of annoyances at home early in the month will also minimize eclipse drama later on.

October is a month for relationship housekeeping. Make sure that you're checking in with all of your friends and, if you're in a romantic partnership, your significant other. When Venus enters practical Virgo on Sunday, October 8, you might find yourself having comfortable conversations, but don't let them trigger your inner commitment-phobe if you're otherwise happy. Talking about laundry or listening to someone vent about their work day is just par for the course. When Pluto, the lord of the underworld, ends its retrograde in your 7th House of Partnership on Tuesday, October 10, you're committed to proving your loyalty to those (few) who earn it. Congrats on growing up, Cancer.

When Mars, known as a warrior but also an epic party animal, enters scary Scorpio on Wednesday, October 11, you can't wait any longer to start planning your Halloween look. You like to present as practical, but, like Scorpio, you're a creative water sign, Cancer, and you love that this time of year helps you get in touch with your shadow self. Express yourself by experimenting with Halloween makeup (and even spooky tattoos if you're really feeling rebellious).

You're still feeling cozy when Saturday, October 14, brings a new moon and solar eclipse in Libra, falling in your 4th House of Home and Family. You want to stay home, which, as astrologers love to remind you, is an excellent way to spend an eclipse, as these fascinating cosmic occurrences can leave everyone feeling on edge. It's best to chill your way through them with snacks and TV.

However, a week later, the stars dare you to continue to lean into that rebellious side you demonstrated earlier. Everyone thinks that Cancers are all warm and fuzzy and look great in comfy oversized sweaters, like fellow Cancer Ariana Grande, but you also have claws. Don't pinch anyone (unless they're into that), but be ready to open up to a friend or lover about sexual fantasies, kinks, or some other taboo topic when chatty Mercury enters envelope-pushing Scorpio on Saturday, October 21. Talking about desires helps normalize them, so if you can trust this person, whether you're talking as friends or a couple interested in experimenting, relax and use this opportunity to deepen a relationship.

Spooky season, the time of the year when Halloween, or Samhain, pronounced sow-in, as the Pagans call it for all the witches reading, gets going when the sun enters Scorpio on Monday, October 23. Your Scorpio season assignment is very simple but quite challenging for some Cancers (shout out to the over-thinkers). Just focus on having a good time. Dance, dress up, make out, and take the time to notice when you're happy. You're going to be enjoying yourself so much that you'll have a hard time turning down Halloween parties that fall on Saturday, October 28. However, considering this date also brings a dramatic and primal full moon and lunar eclipse in Taurus, if you find yourself having to break up a fight after too much revelry, we told you so. Have fun and see you next month.
