Record, AL West finish: 90-72, 2nd behind Astros by one game
Playoffs? Yes, lose in ALDS
Outlook: This Mariners team, when healthy, has a better roster than any of the previous three seasons when so much was expected. The offense shouldn’t be as reliant on home runs and won’t strikeout as much. With the Astros, Mariners and Rangers beating up on each other, 91 wins will take the division.

Playoffs? Yes, lose in ALDS
Outlook: With a more balanced roster, the Mariners won’t have to rely so heavily on a pitching staff that has carried the freight for most of the past three seasons. The offense is capable now, with a chance to be very good, and Year 3 of Julio Rodriguez could turn into a very fun summer for the Mariners.

Playoffs? Yes, lose in ALDS
Outlook: If healthy, these Mariners have a reasonably high floor, with five quality starters that should consistently keep them in games. But there are also legitimate question marks, as the bullpen attempts to overcome early injuries and the lineup features some concerning injury histories as well. Their defense and bullpen may take a small step back, but the Mariners’ rotation and a more complete lineup will help secure a wild card spot. Seattle will win a series but fall in the divisional round for the second time in the last three years.

Record, AL West finish: 89-73, 2nd behind Astros
Playoffs? Yes, lose in ALDS
Outlook: The Mariners are talented and have one of the best rotations in baseball, but they aren’t a top-two American League team and will likely fall short of the championship series.

Playoffs? Yes, lose in ALCS
Outlook: What started out as a highly depressing offseason actually turned into a fruitful one, with the Mariners fortifying their roster enough to give hope for a more functional offense — one anchored by their budding superstar, Julio Rodriguez. Coupled with perhaps the best rotation in the game, the Mariners are poised for a strong run at the division title if their health holds out.
