3 Of The Coolest Cars At The New York Auto Show

Following

Auto shows are traditionally a place where the average punter goes to check out the latest cars to see what might suit their driveway in the near future, or more importantly, their budget.

But on the floor of every auto show, you will also find, dare I say, automotive porn, oops, I meant kinetic art—in terms of the latest and sleekest high-horsepower performance cars.

Opening tomorrow at the Javitz Center in the Big Apple, the New York International Auto Show is no different. In these few lines, let us introduce what we think at least, are the 3 hottest cars at the New York Auto Show.

Genesis X Berlinetta Concept

Firstly, we could not ignore the piping hot orange colored Korean supercar, the Genesis X Berlinetta concept. Created by Genesis for the Vision Gran Turismo series, this sleek coupe is powered by a hybrid V6 powertrain pumping out a total of 1071 hp and 986 lb-ft of torque. And for a car revealed in 2023, the fact that this concept is not fully electric is surprising.

For anyone wanting to drive the X Berlinetta (virtually of course), just access Gran Turismo 7, as the car was added to the game in January.

Karma Kaveya

Our second hottest car of the show is the Karma Kaveya. Under the watchful eye of Karma Automotive president Marques McCammon, and headquartered in Irvine, California, the ultra-luxury EV specialist has launched the Kaveya super coupe GT as part of its three-pronged strategy including the Revero hybrid and the all-electric Gyesera sedan. The Kaveya’s battery capacity is 120 kWh and capable of DC fast charging with a 10 to 80 percent charge time of around 45 minutes and an estimated range of 250 miles, Karma says.

Okay, so we’ve looked at two eye-popping supercars that would break the bank of most motorists. So to finish, we thought we should feature a compact—and more affordable—electric SUV that is one of the most highly anticipated EVs ever—the Porsche Macan EV.

Porsche Macan EV

Launched in January, this is the first time that we are seeing it on American shores. And boy, it certainly looks good. The Macan EV, despite using the Macan nameplate, is powered by a new platform that will also underpin the next Audi A6 e-tron. The flagship Turbo model has dual motors that can generate up to 630 horsepower, providing the crossover with lightning quick acceleration and upwards of 350 miles in range.

According to Porsche, the Macan EV can charge from 10 to 80 percent on a DC fast charging connection in as little as 21 minutes thanks to its 800-volt electrical architecture. The Macan EV is anticipated to be offered alongside the gas-guzzling Macan for the first few years of its existence, offering the same blend of sporty driving qualities and an elegant cabin as its gas-powered sibling.
