When new Cavs forward Marcus Morris Sr. received a buyout from the San Antonio Spurs last month, he didn’t know exactly what the future would hold but he was hoping for an outcome like this. Morris officially signed a 10-day contract with Cleveland on Monday morning, participating in his first shootaround alongside his new teammates. “I’m trying to be here for the run and I’m just excited to help the team in any way I can,” Morris said. “Just coming in and being a veteran. Just be myself. Be a natural leader and be there for the guys and help them get ready for this run. I’ve been in the playoffs a bunch of times in my career and there are a lot of young guys here, so help them prepare and also perform on the court.” -via Cleveland Plain Dealer / March 18, 2024
Sources tell cleveland.com that the Cavs have not made any assurances to Morris about his place on the roster beyond this 10-day deal or his role in the meantime. Given the lengthy injury list, it’s possible he will remain in Cleveland for a second 10-day or even receive a standard contract, providing depth and insurance going into the playoffs — if the fit is right. -via Cleveland Plain Dealer / March 18, 2024
