While speaking with Essence in her September/October cover story alongside sister Chlöe, Halle opened up about how her love story with DDG actually started when he slid into her DMs. (TBH, now knowing the good 'ol fashioned DM is how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle met, I'm convinced this is *the* ultimate dating power move.)
In the interview, Halle recalled: “I’ve been a fan of his for years. I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them.” The singer then revealed this was around 2015, but as her own career took off, “I completely forgot about him.”
“Then I saw that he was dropping music, and I really gravitated toward this one song. Coincidentally he messaged me—and the rest is history,” she said.
Later on in the interview after being asked if she’s in love, Halle even confessed, “Yes. For sure I am.” S'cute!

In an interview with The Breakfast Club, DDG dished on his 'ship with Halle, whom he jokingly called his “wife.” “I never been with nobody who motivates me like she do,” he said on the talk show. “I'm seeing different shit. I never really been around this type of shit before.”
The “Moonwalking in Calabasas” rapper also said he was actually the one who made the first move after seeing Halle post about 50 Cent's song “Many Men,” which just so happens to be one of his favorites too. During the interview, he talked about how his multi-hyphenate partner introduced him to amazing social circles, took him to fashion shows, and changed his overall outlook on many things.
