OAKLAND – A 47-year-old San Leandro man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in East Oakland, police said.

His name has not yet been released pending notification of his family.

The fatal shooting was reported just before 4:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Louvaine Avenue, in the Brookfield Village neighborhood, authorities said. Officers arrived to find the man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The man was rushed to an area hospital, where he died of his injuries a short time later, police said.

Investigators have not yet released a motive for the killing or said why the man was in Oakland. No arrests have been made.

The death marked Oakland’s 19th homicide of the year. At this time last year, police had investigated 25 homicides.
