Godsmack Ends Their Tie With Metallica With Another Big Hit

Following

Godsmack is spending 2024 promoting their most recent album, Lighting Up the Sky. The 2023 album is still churning out hits, and thanks to their latest commercial success, the band has broken out of a tie with one of the most beloved names of all time on one specific list.

“Truth,” Godsmack’s latest single, jumps up the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart this week. The single, taken from their recent album, breaks into the top 10 on Billboard’s ranking of the tunes that reach the largest audience at radio stations in the U.S. that play a form of rock known simply as “mainstream.”

With “Truth,” Godsmack earns their twenty-ninth top 10 hit on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. That’s one of the most impressive accumulations of appearances between Nos. 1 and 10 on the tally in its history, and the band both breaks a tie and forms a new one with some impressive colleagues.

With 29 top 10 hits to their credit, Godsmack ties with Five Finger Death Punch. The two bands now jointly claim the third-most placements inside the highest tier on the tally among all acts.

The record for the most top 10s on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart still belongs to the Foo Fighters. They have scored 32 smashes. Just one hit behind them comes Shinedown, with 31.

Last week, when Godsmack still claimed 28 top 10s on the rocking radio chart, they were on the same level as two other legends. Both Metallica and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have accrued 28 appearances inside the top tier on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.

“Truth” joins the top 10 by lifting just one rung. Last time around, the single sat at No. 11, and now, it’s up to No. 10. The track only needed nine weeks to enter the loftiest space, and in the coming frames, it could continue to climb.
