Apple's M2 MacBook Airs continue to be a hot buy for bargain hunters in the wake of its March M3 update.

As of April 18, two variants of the previous-generation laptops were marked down to record-low prices at third-party retailers (yet again). We spotted the base configuration of the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air on sale for just $849 at Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H Photo, which is $150 off its newly adjusted sticker price. Meanwhile, an upgraded 15-inch M2 MacBook Air with 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage was down to $1,499 at Best Buy — that's a whopping $400 off. (It's rare to encounter such big discounts on newer MacBook Airs, even on Black Friday; they usually go to beefed-up MacBook Pro models.)

Note that Apple has technically discontinued the 15-inch M2 MacBook Air, meaning it no longer sells it in new condition through the Apple Store, but other authorized stores evidently still have some configurations left in their inventories — i.e., get it while you still can.

Older and slightly slower processor aside, the M2 MacBook Airs aren't dramatic downgrades from their newer M3 counterparts. Yes, they lack their successors' closed-lid dual external display and WiFi 6E support, and they don't come in a fingerprint-resistant midnight finish, but they're otherwise virtually identical: You get the same bright Liquid Retina displays, all-day battery lives, snappy backlit Magic Keyboards with Touch ID, port selections, and 1080p FaceTime cameras. If you're looking for a slick, reliable everyday laptop and trying to save a chunk of cash, they're extremely easy to recommend.

Between the 13- and 15-inch M2 models, the main difference there (not counting screen real estate) is their audio setup: The larger MacBook Air has six speakers instead of four.
