Another posh, royal-adjacent wedding is on the horizon. Prince Harry and Prince William's mutual friend Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, is getting married on June 7, and there's been a bunch of speculation that the event could reunite the estranged brothers. But, apparently not. 😬

In December of last year, The Times initially reported that Hugh wasn't going to invite the Sussexes. Moreover, he had spoken to a mutual friend who relayed the following to the outlet: “It’s incredibly sad it has come to this. Hugh is one of very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both. He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up but realizes it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding.”

Meanwhile, Page Six claimed that Harry had gotten an invite but “declined” it. According to a source who spoke to the mag, “Harry actually got a ‘save the date’ card a few months ago but called Hugh and said it would be too awkward if he and Meghan Markle attended, so he made his apologies, and Hugh understood.”

Flash-forward to now, and royal expert Tom Quinn tells The Mirror that Prince William will definitely “attend the wedding” and “can hardly avoid it, as Hugh is Prince George’s godfather.” Quinn then confirmed that “Harry declined on the grounds that it would just be 'too awkward.' But there are other reasons: Harry knows he can’t attend without Meghan, and Meghan has absolutely insisted she won’t be there.”

As for how Hugh feels about all this? According to the Daily Mail's sources, he is “staying neutral,” and “maintaining a good relationship” with both brothers.

Good to know!
