Two people rescued in separate MBTA incidents in as many days

One person was rescued from under a red line train and another fell into a metro pit while riding a scooter.

Two people were rescued in separate incidents involving the MBTA in the past two days, officials said. 

A person was rescued from under a Red Line train on Wednesday, according to the Cambridge Fire Department. The incident occurred at the Porter T stop just before 11 p.m., the department said. 

The person was treated for injuries and transported to a medical facility, according to officials. 

A second incident occurred Thursday morning when a man riding a scooter fell into the subway pit at the Tufts Medical Center Stop, MBTA officials told The Boston Globe

The man was “well known” to MBTA Transit Police and was operating close to the edge of the pit at the time he fell,Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan told the Globe. Power was shut off while the man was rescued, Sullivan said.

The man suffered a laceration to his eye, the Globe reported.
