A 34-year-old was arrested Wednesday, April 17, after allegedly posing as a driver for a transport company and stealing 30 pallets of electronics, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

On March 25, the Sheriff’s Office received a report from a business stating that a fraudulent shipping company had stolen 30 pallets of electronics. The victim reported that someone who claimed to be a driver for the company arrived with fraudulent paperwork, the Sheriff’s release said.

Officials said the driver left the business with electronics intended for shipment to a company in Colorado.

The Sheriff’s news release stated that the company in Colorado informed the business in Fontana that they had not received their electronics shipment.

Detectives conducted surveillance at a residence in the 4900 block of River Ash Way in Fontana and identified the driver responsible for the cargo theft as Amarveer Johal, 34, of Fontana, the news release said.

Johal was arrested on Wednesday at the residence, the news release said.

“Some stolen property was recovered at the residence and returned to the owner. Johal is believed responsible for additional fraudulent cargo thefts in the Fontana area,” deputies said in the news release.

Anyone with information regarding the theft can contact investigators at the Fontana Sheriff’s Station.
