Google’s latest streaming dongle offers a cheap way to add smart features and apps to any TV.

Almost any TV you can buy these days supports streaming in some form or fashion, but what if you don’t like its user interface or it doesn’t have all of the apps you need? That’s where a streaming device like the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) comes in. We usually recommend jumping for the 4K version if you have the budget for it, but the HD model is only $19.99 ($10 off) at Amazon, Best Buy, and the Google Store. It’s a great opportunity to see whether a Chromecast is a better fit for you than Amazon or Roku’s offerings or to access your favorite streaming apps on a secondary TV in your home.

Like its pricier sibling, the Google TV platform it uses offers recommendations across a variety of streaming services and provides an array of helpful info, including Rotten Tomatoes ratings. The entry-level streamer lacks Dolby Vision, and you won’t be able to stream your favorite shows and movies in 4K — it’s limited to a max resolution of 1080p — but it can play HDR videos, supports casting from apps that offer it, and comes with the same Google Assistant-compatible voice remote as the 4K model.

$20

The Chromecast with Google TV now comes in a version that tops out at 1080p instead of 4K. It’s more affordable as a result, though it retains the same design and feature set aside from UHD content and Dolby Atmos support.

It’s hard not to get into spring cleaning mode with a do-it-all robot vacuum like the Dreame L20 Ultra. The premium offering is one of our favorite models thanks to its ability to pull dual duty as a sweeper and mopper, one that does so with great autonomy. Of course, such a prodigious product doesn’t come without a high price tag. It normally retails for $1,499 and is often on sale for a bit less, but now through the end of April, it’s down to $799 ($700 off) at Wellbots when you use exclusive promo code VERGEL20. That’s easily its lowest price to date.

The L20 Ultra has a high suction power for thick rugs and stubborn dirt and uses AI-powered obstacle avoidance and lidar-assisted room mapping. Plus, you can use Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri to control it. It has self-lifting pads that allow it to transition between cleaning carpet and hard floors seamlessly, and it’s better than most at baseboard cleaning thanks to auto-extending brushes. It also doesn’t need help to empty or refill its water at the included charging base, nor do you need to clean or dry its mop pads.

$799

The high-end Dreame L20 Ultra is the least hands-on vacuum / mop you can buy. It can remove and reattach its oscillating mopping pads, wash and dry them, refill its water tank, and empty the bin. It can also do the splits with its mops to clean your baseboards better. The newer X30 Ultra has some improvements, but on balance, the L20 is still the best value.

  • The wired Google Nest Cam is one of the few indoor home security cameras we can safely recommend, but it’s not the cheapest at $99.99. Thankfully, you can currently pick one up starting at $67.59 (about $32 off) at Amazon, Best Buy, and the Google Store. With a Nest Aware subscription ($8 a month), you’ll get smart notifications that can alert you when specific people or pets enter your active monitoring zones, and you can retain up to 60 days of event history and up to 10 days of 24/7 recording. There’s better video quality available from competing products that cost less, but the 1080p cam slots well into Google’s ecosystem if you’re already relying on Nest products for your other smart home needs. Read our review.
  • You can get 8BitDo’s Dual Charging Dock for Xbox Wireless Controllers in black with a translucent base for $35.99 ($9 off) at Amazon, which is only a couple of dollars more than its all-time low. The dock features adjustable LED charging indicators and comes with two 1,100mAh batteries and four magnetic battery doors, which make it easy to secure the controllers in the base and ensure they’re making full contact with the charging pins. That feature feels like a godsend to me, especially since I’ve struggled with similar products that don’t go the extra mile to ensure proper seating.
  • Now through April 30th, Nomad is running a buy one, get one 50 percent off sale on iPhone cases when you use promo code CASEOFF. The well-known accessory maker specializes in authentic leather cases and has options for models dating as far back as the iPhone 7. For the iPhone 15 series, for example, you can find options starting at $20 and ranging up to $70, including colorful sport cases, slim cases, rugged cases, and some with magnets that allow you to continue using your MagSafe accessories.
  • Starting around $279 ($20 off) at Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H Photo, the DJI Mini 2 SE comes with everything you need for immediate takeoff, including the palm-sized drone and the smartphone-accommodating RC-N1 controller. The SE version downgrades the camera on the Mini 2 to a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor with a resolution that drops from 4K to 2.7K. You’ll need to accept some other concessions for the price, but it’s a great beginner drone that can help you get more comfortable flying before you graduate to something more substantial (like the new DJI Avata 2, perhaps).
