Open Thread: Playoffs Opening Night

It’s not an Avalanche gameday but there’s still hockey to watch!

Before the Colorado Avalanche get their postseason series started tomorrow night against the Winnipeg Jets there’s a doubleheader already underway with the opening of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

First up is the revenge of Patrick Roy and Semyon Varlamov’s New York Islanders against perennial contenders in the Carolina Hurricanes at 3 p.m. MT. Can the wild card Islanders cause an upset or will Carolina roll through them?

The nightcap is the Atlantic Division showdown between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins. That game’s puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT. Will the Maple Leafs win a round for the second year in a row or will Boston get the last laugh?

Which of these Eastern Conference teams are you rooting for and would you like to see either match up against the Avalanche in the Stanley Cup final? Which series interests the most or is the most difficult to predict?
