Goldberg Talks Retirement Match; WWE Rumors on Dom Mysterio's Injury and Jacob Fatu

Goldberg Says He's Not Currently Pursuing Retirement Match

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg said this week that having a retirement match is no longer a primary focus of his.

During an appearance on 93.7 The Ticket (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), Goldberg noted that he is so busy with other commitments that getting ready for a retirement match isn't currently on his radar:

"I'll be perfectly honest with you. I've kind of put that on the back burner. Right now, I've segued into dad, first and foremost, and husband and car host. I'm just having fun at my garage. So, I really don't have a lot of time right now to dedicate to prepping for a retirement match."

Goldberg went on to say that he is mostly concerned with being there for his son, Gage Goldberg, who has committed to play football at the University of Colorado:

"I'm trying to do everything I can in my power 24/7 to get our boy [Gage] prepped for the next phase of his life. And in all honesty, that's the most important thing I could ever have going. Whether I was ready to step in the ring right now or not, I'd put it all on the back burner for this boy. It's going to be tough, man."

Goldberg's current stance is a significant departure from what he was saying about having a retirement match last year.

During an appearance last year on Steve & Captain Evil: The Podcast (h/t Carrier), Goldberg called former WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon a "piece of s--t" for allegedly promising him a retirement match and not following through.

Goldberg also told Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated that he felt WWE owed him a retirement match, and if they wouldn't give him one, he would explore other avenues, including possibly having his retirement match independently in Israel.

Now 57 years of age, Goldberg has little left to prove in the world of pro wrestling, as he established himself as a top star in both WWE and WCW, winning four world championships along the way.

Goldberg didn't shut the door completely on having a retirement match at some point, but he does seem more at peace with his career than he did last year, which suggests he will be fine if a retirement match never materializes.

Dominik Mysterio Reportedly Dealing with Legitimate Injury

Dominik Mysterio's arm was in a sling on Monday night's episode of Raw, and it reportedly wasn't part of a storyline.

According to Fightful Select, Mysterio is dealing with a legitimate injury, which required WWE to remove him from the scheduled tag team match that would have pitted Dom and JD McDonagh against Ricochet and Andrade.

Santos Escobar stepped in to replace Mysterio in the match, which was ultimately won by Ricochet and Andrade.

Per Fightful, the exact nature of Dominik's injury is unknown, and the timetable for his return isn't yet clear either.

Coincidentally, Rhea Ripley was injured two weeks ago during a brawl with Liv Morgan, and she showed up last week on Raw with her arm in a sling. Dom's Mami subsequently had to vacate the Women's World Championship due to her injury.

Now that Dominik is banged up as well, The Judgment Day is shorthanded, as world heavyweight champion Damian Priest, Finn Bálor and McDonagh are the only healthy members.

If Mysterio has to miss an extended period of time, it would represent a significant loss for The Judgment Day and WWE as a whole since he has developed into one of the company's top heels over the past couple of years.

However, even if he isn't able to wrestle, Dominik still brings value with his involvement in non-physical segments.

Jacob Fatu Reportedly Set to Make WWE Debut Soon

Amid rumors that he has signed with WWE, former MLW world heavyweight champion Jacob Fatu is reportedly on the verge of making his debut.

According to PWInsider.com (h/t Carrier), it is believed that Fatu could make his WWE debut as soon as Friday night's WWE draft episode of SmackDown.

While not yet confirmed, it is widely expected that Fatu will join the new-look version of The Bloodline since he is the real-life cousin of Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa and The Usos.

A couple of weeks ago on SmackDown, former New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Tama Tonga made his WWE debut by helping Solo attack Jimmy Uso and essentially take him out of The Bloodline.

While Tonga is not related to Bloodline members by blood, he is the adopted son of WWE legend Haku, who is considered part of the Anoa'i family by association.

Given that Fatu is a blood relative, it would be shocking if he is not included in the Bloodline storyline, especially since Solo is seemingly trying to build his own version of the group while Roman Reigns is away.

Fatu is tough, physical and athletic, and he seemingly has the look needed to be a star in WWE, so all signs point toward him hitting the ground running.

Tonga is off to a great start in WWE despite having little exposure in North America before his debut, and it is fair to expect something similar out of Fatu.
