The Washington men’s basketball team offset the loss of guard Koren Johnson, who left for Louisville earlier this week, by landing Butler guard DJ Davis.

On Wednesday morning, Davis posted a photo on social media of himself wearing a No. 4 purple Husky jersey with a caption that read: Committed.

The 6-foot-1 and 175-pound senior from Moreno Valley, Calif., began his collegiate career with a three-year stint at UC Irvine where he averaged 11.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists while starting 36 of 83 games and shooting 39.6% from the field and 37.6 on three-pointers.

After transferring to Butler, Davis had a breakout year and averaged career highs in points (13.5), rebounds (3.2) and assists (2.6) while making 33 starts last season. He also shot 42.9% from the field, 35.1% on 3s and 95% at the free-throw line.

Midway through the season, Davis had a six-game stretch when he averaged 20.8 points, which included four straight 20-plus games.

Davis is the second transfer to join UW following Rice guard Mekhi Mason, who came onboard April 3.

Seemingly, Washington has six players on the roster, including returners Wilhelm Breidenbach, Franck Kepnang, Samuel Ariyibi, Christian King, Davis and Mason.

Four Huskies (Nate Calmese, Wesley Yates III, Braxton Meah and Johnson) from last season’s team have entered the portal. Additionally, UW lost Keion Brooks, Sahvir Wheeler, Paul Mulcahy, Moses Wood and Anthony Holland to graduation.
