New ‘Escape From Tarkov’ Unheard Edition Has A Full Single Player Mode

Following

The patch notes for Escape From Tarkov update 0.14.6 have been released and the big new addition is a new version of the game called the Unheard Edition that features even more goodies and perks than the old Edge of Darkness edition.

The Unheard Edition features a lot of the same perks as the old Edge of Darkness edition which was removed a few months ago, but there are also a few other additions for anyone who decides to buy it. In terms of big gameplay changes, your pocket size is increased meaning you now can now fit full mags in your pockets and you get increased skill levels at the start of a wipe. Already these two additions have caused some backlash, with many bringing out the pay-to-win argument considering these two features will give every Unheard Edition owner a big advantage over those who do not have it.

But the really big feature that seems to make this worth getting is access to a new player versus environment mode that features full progression and quests and will not be impacted by wipes. This is effectively single-player Tarkov, although you can team up with friends, where you can play the entire game without having to worry about fighting other real players. Again the community is already asking questions about this, as Edge of Darkness owners were promised all future DLC for free, and this sure looks like DLC in all but name.

Other perks in the Unheard Edition include access to an early test server, better starting gear at the beginning of a wipe, more flea market slots, and better mail retention time, which should be a nice bonus to stop you from losing all your insurance. The full list of bonuses can be seen in the patch notes.

No price has been revealed for the Unheard Edition just yet as the website is currently down for maintenance and you can’t actually buy it just yet. However, given the bonuses seem to be better than the Edge of Darkness edition it probably isn’t going to be cheap.

Update 11:45 am BST:

The Unheard Edition is now available to purchase and costs a massive $250 if you haven’t already purchased Escape From Tarkov. If you had the Edge of Darkness edition you can upgrade for $100.

Elsewhere in the 14.6 patch notes, there are reworks to armour and hitbox penetration that should make being shot a little more consistent and a lot of the annoying effects after being shot have been toned down. The season has also changed to spring, so you can say goodbye to the snow for a while.

The release of the Unheard Edition comes as the Gray Zone Warfare streamer test is ending and a lot of the big-name players will be returning to Tarkov for the first time in a week. No doubt the release of the new addition will also bring in some new players or returning old ones as well, so player counts could jump up in the coming days.
