Brookline woman charged with removing, damaging pro-Israel signs from Coolidge Corner yard

24-year-old Kendra Enos admitted the theft to police when they stopped her on her walk home. The signs were reportedly stolen or vandalized four separate times, Brookline police said.

A Brookline woman is facing criminal charges related to removing and damaging pro-Israel signs from a yard near Coolidge Corner multiple times, police records show.

Kendra Enos, 24, is facing one charge for vandalizing property and four misdemeanors for larceny under $1,200. She’s due in court next month.

“This has been blown out of proportion. I stole a few signs from the street, and that’s all. I am sorry to anyone who feels distressed over this but as I’ve said before, imagine the distress millions of innocent Palestinians feel. Our tax dollars are going to fund a genocide and people are doxing and harassing me because of a few signs,” Enos told Boston.com.

An Alton Place resident reported to police that her pro-Israel lawn signs were stolen or vandalized four separate times, the police report said. After an initial theft on March 26, the resident replaced signs with “another We stand With Israel sign,” the police report said, in April, she placed a “Kidnapped” sign in her front lawn.

According to the police report, a person matching Enos’s description was seen on a doorbell camera removing the signs.

Police were patrolling near the home around the time periods that the signs had been removed, and on April 12, Enos was seen and stopped by police. Enos was identified with a distinctive backpack. Enos told Boston.com the backpack was Baymax from Big Hero 6.

“I wasn’t even arrested so that’s a lie made to make me look like the aggressor, but what really happened is the police staked me out at 10:30 p.m. on my walk home and caught me because of my Baymax backpack where his arms detach so it looks like he’s giving you a hug,” Enos told Boston.com

When stopped by officers that night, Enos admitted that she had stolen and damaged the signs, the police report said.

“She said, ‘I just don’t agree with it,’ referring to Israeli support,” the police wrote. “I asked Enos what she did not agree with, and she would not provide any further details.”

Enos was fully cooperative with police, the report said, and was not arrested. She went to the police station for further questions, according to the report.

Enos said she’s been harassed at her work due to the allegations.

“It’s crazy that this has spiraled and again we’re focused on me stealing a few signs instead of an ongoing genocide,” Enos said. “I’d appreciate if people stop harassing me as I never did anything to anybody else.”
