New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he is experiencing "absolutely zero pain" from the 2023 season-ending Achilles injury he suffered in September.

"I've been back in Jersey for the last week, doing a lot of the workouts... the running's been really good, feeling good with my linear speed and increasing the miles per hour," Rodgers said Friday on the 2024 NFL Draft edition of The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN (4:51 in video). "Strength is good. Can get under the squat rack and do all the things I need to do.

"I think the last part is just to be confident enough to do all those things. It just comes from reps. I mean, the strength is great, the Achilles has absolutely zero pain or issues. It's just the final stage of any comeback."

Rodgers missed almost the entire 2023 season after tearing his left Achilles four snaps into his Week 1 Jets debut.

Rodgers, 40, later said he thought the Achilles injury would end his NFL career, per ESPN's Rich Cimini.

After undergoing surgery two days after the injury with a "speed bridge" technique that aimed to reduce rehabilitation time, Rodgers was able to rejoin the Jets for voluntary offseason workouts in April.

The Jets signed Rodgers to a two-year deal in 2023 with the hope the veteran quarterback could lead the team back to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.

Prior to arriving in New York, Rodgers played 18 seasons for the Green Bay Packers while earning a Super Bowl championship and four MVP titles.

Any extended absence from Rodgers this season would necessitate the Jets turning to veteran backup Tyrod Taylor, who made five starts for the New York Giants in 2023.

Luckily for the Jets, it sounds like Rodgers is on track to play this fall and grant New York some signal-calling certainty for the first time in a year.
