Offense ruled the opening day of the 2024 NFL draft. The first round saw a record-setting 23 offensive players come off the board in the first 32 picks.

Much like eager fans, the defensive players will endure an agonizing wait until Day 2 of the draft kicks off Friday at 7 p.m. ET. Defensive talent at all three levels abounds among the top players remaining on our big board.

There are still plenty of intriguing offensive names available, too. The wide receiver and offensive line depth is apparent as there are still some potential difference-makers available despite seven wide receivers and nine offensive linemen making up the first round.

The first night didn't create as many trades as some might have expected, but it did end with the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers swapping the 32nd and 33rd picks.

With the Bills now on the clock, here's a quick look at all the results from Day 1 and a fresh mock draft for Day 2 considering team needs, the best available players on our big board and first-round picks.

The quarterbacks went flying off the board early. Half of the first 12 picks were QBs, and the Raiders didn't even have a viable option for a passer by the time they got on the clock at No. 13.

That led to one of the most surprising picks with Las Vegas grabbing Brock Bowers to pair with Michael Mayer at tight end.

Laiatu Latu was the first defensive player selected, and he nearly had to wait the entire first half of the first round. He went to the Colts at No. 15. That started a run in which defensive players made up six of the next nine picks.

Kool-Aid McKinstry and Jer'Zhan Newton were among the most surprising names not to have their name called in the first round. Both were stars in college football this season and carried top-20 grades on our big board.

They should be among the first to hear their name called on Friday.
