Sublime Has Coachella To Thank For Their Resurgence

Following

Sublime is back on the Billboard charts in a major way this week, and the band has their recent festival performances to thank for their rise. The ska/rock outfit reunited under their official name for the first time in years at Coachella, and their catalog benefited immensely.

The group’s self-titled third album is up on three Billboard charts this week. The project has been present on all of them for well over 100 frames, and while it was already performing well last time around, the effort is shooting up certain lists after many fans rushed to buy and stream the collection following their must-see set at the top music festival in America.

Sublime is up nearly 40 spots on the Billboard 200 this week. That’s a massive gain on the ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.S. In fact, the project leaps past almost one-fifth of all the rungs on the highly-competitive tally this time around.

The legendary rock band’s self-titled effort settles at No. 158 this week. That’s up from No. 197 last period when it narrowly managed to hold on and find space on the 200-slot ranking.

In the past tracking frame, Sublime moved another 9,010 equivalent units, according to data shared by Luminate. That’s up more than 15% from the timeframe before. The album sold a little more than 600 copies, as streaming activity helped aid the title’s forward surge.

The same title is also up noticeably on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts. On the former, it climbs from No. 48 to No. 37. On the latter, it returns to the top 20, inching up from No. 25 to No. 17.

Sublime split in 1996, but since then, the remaining members of the band have played together. They reformed as a separate-but-connected outfit called Sublime with Rome, which featured a new lead singer. At Coachella, the band was reunited, only with Jakob Nowell–the son of the late singer Bradley Nowell–stepping in to complete the group, allowing the original name to be utilized again.
