Freshman quarterback Dermaricus Davis has entered the transfer portal, according to 247Sports, leaving Washington with just two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.

During Saturday’s Husky scrimmage, fifth-year senior Will Rogers, a transfer from Mississippi State, and freshman Demond Williams Jr. — who like Davis enrolled early at UW to be able to participate in spring drills — took most of the snaps.

After Saturday’s scrimmage, UW coach Jedd Fisch said Davis was “getting better.” Jimmie Dougherty, the quarterbacks coach, expanded on that.

“He’s obviously not getting the reps right now, but when he is getting in there, he’s had two pretty good practices,” Dougherty said. “When he did get his opportunity to go in there, he threw a touchdown pass in the red zone today.”

Less than a week later, Davis has entered the transfer portal for a second time.

Davis, a four-star recruit from Etiwanda (Calif.) High School, entered the portal in early January after UW coach Kalen DeBoer left for Alabama. Davis took himself out of the portal later that month after Fisch was hired by UW to replace DeBoer.

As a senior at Etiwanda, Davis completed 191 of 275 pass attempts for 2,618 yards with 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 223 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Huskies are left with three quarterbacks on the roster, with fourth-year junior Teddy Purcell, who has not played in a game at UW, joining Rogers and Williams Jr.

Suspended Gordon enters transfer portal

Redshirt freshman safety Diesel Gordon, who was suspended by Washington on April 5 and was recently charged with misdemeanor assault and property destruction, has entered the transfer portal, 247Sports reported.

Police say Gordon and former teammate Tybo Rogers spit on and physically assaulted a bicyclist after trying to push him off the road in a March 11 incident.
