Tee Higgins, Courtland Sutton's Best Landing Spots After 2024 NFL Draft Day 2

The second day of the NFL draft is complete and plenty of wide receivers are off the board.

While many teams have found wide receiver help through the first three rounds of the NFL draft, a pair of receivers are on the trade market and could be options for teams still looking to fill or add to the position group.

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins and Denver Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton have been involved in trade speculation, and Higgins has already requested a trade from the Bengals. The two players have excelled for their respective teams but could be suiting up in different uniforms this fall.

After nine more receivers were drafted on Friday, here's a look at some potential landing spots for Higgins and Sutton.

After back-to-back seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards, Higgins was limited to just 12 games last year and managed to record just 656 yards and five touchdowns.

When healthy, Higgins can be a team's No. 1 receiving option, which is why the Bengals franchise-tagged him in hopes of keeping him around. But Higgins wants out, and a team will be rewarded with a talented receiver.

Here are a few receiver-needy teams that could look to trade for Higgins.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers should be making calls about Higgins. They lost their top two receivers, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, to a trade and a salary cap cut and are now searching for someone to help make up for those losses.

The Chargers decided to take offensive lineman Joe Alt with their first-round pick, but traded up to take wide receiver Ladd McConkey at No. 34. McConkey is a special talent out of Georgia, but he alone won't solve the Bolts' wide receiver needs, and they should consider pairing him with Higgins in his rookie year.

Los Angeles will have $98.4 million in effective cap space in 2025, so it would be prepared to give Higgins a nice contract in free agency.

New England Patriots

The Patriots have what they hope will be their next franchise quarterback after drafting Drake Maye at No. 3. Now it's time to give him someone to throw to.

New England had just one receiver with more than 500 receiving yards a year ago, and that roster construction won't set Maye up for success. The Patriots added to the wide receiver room by adding Ja'Lynn Polk in the draft, but there's still area for growth that Higgins could help with.

To put Maye in the best position possible as he begins his NFL career, trading for Higgins and giving him a solid target is the right move.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints have a solid No. 1 option in Chris Olave, but need a No. 2 option. New Orleans parted ways with Michael Thomas this offseason, leaving them with a spot to fill. Higgins could fill that spot perfectly.

The Saints would have to do some work to fit Higgins into their roster, but it could be a worthwhile move to improve their offense.

Sutton has had just one season with 1,000+ receiving yards in his six-year career, but he's looking to get to that mark again in 2024, perhaps with a new team. Sutton had a solid year in 2023 with 772 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Denver's quarterback situation became a little clearer when it drafted Oregon's Bo Nix, who will presumably be the starter. That leaves the Broncos with a decision to make with Sutton before the start of the season.

Here's a look at a few teams that could trade for Sutton.

Pittsburgh Steelers

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported before the NFL draft that the Steelers are a "team to watch" for Sutton, and a potential trade would make sense.

The Steelers picked up wide receiver Roman Wilson in the third round of the draft, but they still need a veteran wide receiver to help lead their young core, and Sutton would be exactly that.

It's also worth noting the history Sutton has with Pittsburgh's new quarterback Russell Wilson. The two spent the last two seasons together and managed to form some chemistry. That connection could go a long way for the Steelers.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills lost top receivers Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis over the offseason and are now looking for some support in the position. They added a piece through the draft, taking Florida State's Keon Coleman in the second round.

Still, some veteran experience could benefit Buffalo as it looks to get over the hump of making it out of the AFC and into the Super Bowl.

New York Jets

The Jets have a rising star and a clear No. 1 receiver in Garret Wilson, but they lack a true No. 2 option even after taking Malachi Corley.

New York is looking to compete for a Super Bowl now with Aaron Rodgers in the late stages of his career, and it needs another standout receiver to do so. Sutton could be the piece the Jets need.

New York also has plenty of cap space with around $69 million for the 2025 season, so they could lock Sutton down to a long-term deal should he make his way to the Big Apple.
