The NFL draft this week saw a number of legacy selections, as the sons of former players found their way into the league.

Undrafted free agency was no different, as the Buffalo Bills signed Frank Gore Jr. His father, Frank Gore Sr., told Josina Anderson of CBS Sports that the family was excited for this new chapter:

"We're good. We're going to Buffalo man to do our thing. Tell them they better be ready-trust me. I know what I'm raising. Folks slept on my son; they slept on me too—they'll see. My bloodline is for real. Our (pre-draft) testing was identical. All the scouts were like, you can tell that's my son. I f--k with [general manager Brandon] Beane. He's the real deal. I'm happy to get my son to this point. We're coming to play. Buffalo got a dog; I promise you that. I don't give a (explextive) about a draft pick. We're about to party and do our thing."

The elder Gore was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2005 NFL draft and was a five-time Pro Bowler, rushing for 16,000 yards and 81 touchdowns in his career. Only Emmitt Smith (18,355) and Walter Payton (16,726) compiled more rushing yards in NFL history.

He played for the Bills in 2019, rushing for 599 yards and two scores that season.

Like father, like son. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Bills?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Bills</a> <br><br>Frank Gore ➡️ Frank Gore Jr. <a href="https://t.co/cOkHCrmlAL">pic.twitter.com/cOkHCrmlAL</a>

The younger Gore spent four seasons at Southern Mississippi, rushing for 4,022 yards and 26 touchdowns. He rushed for 1,100 yards in each of his last two seasons and never posted less than 700 rushing yards in a season.

He'll have a fight on his hands to make Buffalo's roster, however. James Cook is entrenched as the starter, while the team selected Kentucky's Ray Davis in the fourth round and also has Ty Johnson and Darrynton Evans on the depth chart.

But if Gore can prove to be a tough runner between the tackles like his father was, he could very well carve out a role for himself with the Bills. His father certainly believes that big things are on the horizon for his son.
