Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard will miss Sunday's Game 4 matchup against the Dallas Mavericks with knee inflammation, team president Lawrence Frank announced.

Frank said Leonard does not have a timetable for his return.

Leonard missed Game 1 of the first-round series with the injury and has been severely limited since returning in Game 2. He scored just nine points and grabbed nine rebounds in 25 minutes in the Clippers' Game 2 loss.

Injuries have become all too familiar for Leonard over the second half of his career. Since missing nearly all of the 2017-18 season, Leonard has been dealing with injuries or injury management on a yearly basis. His 68 games played this season were his most since 2016-17, but Leonard entered the playoffs dealing with a knee issue.

Leonard tried to gut through the injury but was noticeably rusty when he returned for Game 2.

"I felt pretty good in the game," Leonard told reporters then. "I was okay. ... This is my first game in 20-something days. I don't know [about my conditioning]. I'm not measuring that. We've got to be better as a unit overall. That starts with me. Even if my wind is low, I've got to find a way."

The Clippers are in their fifth year of the Leonard-Paul George era and cannot buy a break when it comes to their health in the playoffs. Leonard's continued troubles will make it borderline impossible for them to make a deep run unless George and James Harden break out superstar-level performances.
