NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Education has announced that the Romanian government is offering scholarships to Indian students. The Government of Romania is awarding scholarships to 20 Indian students through the Cultural Exchange Programme from 2022 to 2027.
Students will be awarded scholarships for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral courses in various university or research stages, with the exception of medical studies.
Interested and qualified candidates should submit their application forms by May 26, 2024.
What are the benefits of the scholarship?
The Government of Romania's scholarship grants include a variety of benefits to help students with their educational journeys. First, they cover tuition and enrolment fees, allowing students to continue their studies without financial constraints.
Furthermore, the allocated subsidy includes student dormitory accommodations, which provide a convenient and affordable living arrangement. Furthermore, recipients are given a monthly scholarship allowance to help with living expenses. Students receive medical attention in the event of a medical emergency or potentially endemic disease.
In addition to this, the scholarship provides reduced rail and local public transport fares, which are similar to those received by Romanian students under legal provisions.

Who is eligible to apply?
Eligibility criteria for the scholarship are as follows:
  • Applicants must not hold Romanian citizenship or citizenship from a European Union/Swiss Confederation/European Economic Area member state.
  • Applicants should not be members of the diplomatic corps or family members of accredited diplomatic corps in Romania.
  • Candidates must be nominated through diplomatic channels by relevant partners.
  • Candidates who have not previously received a scholarship from Romania for the same level of study (Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, or post-university studies).
  • Applicants must provide study documents issued by accredited/recognized educational institutions.
  • Candidates should present study documents allowing enrollment in Romania for the required field and level of study.
  • Applicants are required to have achieved good academic results in their previous education, with a minimum average grade of 7 (seven) according to the grading system in Romania or an equivalent "Good" mark.
  • Candidates must be under the age of 35 for Bachelor's and Master's studies, and under the age of 45 for PhD studies or post-university studies (including medical studies), as of December 31st of the nomination year.

What are the documents required to apply?
The Application form for scholarship in Romania would require the candidate to furnish the following documents:
  • Application proforma for scholarship in Romania (completed in all sections)
  • Recent color photo (attached to the application form)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport (first 2 pages, valid for at least 6 months after the start of the requested study program)
  • Document proving name change (if applicable)
  • High school Graduation Diploma or equivalent (authenticated by relevant authorities)
  • Official statement confirming high school graduation and passing of graduation exam (for current year graduates without final study document)
  • Academic Transcripts/Diploma Supplement for graduated studies (authenticated)
  • Medical certificate demonstrating absence of contagious diseases or other impairments incompatible with future studies
  • Curriculum Vitae (maximum 3 pages)
