I like the Mavs with a big Luka bounce-back game tonight. Boosting that to +180 on @FDSportsbook. Or, you can use my 30% Profit Boost Token on a diff wager (claim it on FD’s home page). pic.twitter.com/2WP6xtHF8X2:12 PM

Whether it’s Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic going from slow to slower or Anthony Edwards and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from 100 mph to slamming on the brakes, the decel step is a devastating weapon for elite NBA scorers. ESPN story: espn.com/nba/story/_/id…1:36 PM

ICYMI – injury status for the two teams tonight for Game 5. Jason Kidd yesterday noted that Luka is playing with a “sprain” but did everything in practice. There was a possibility for Hardaway to return but he tweaked his ankle during a post practice scrimmage and is out. pic.twitter.com/XVjbOoUkp211:59 AM

The Mavs have officially listed Luka Doncic (right knee sprain) as probable for tomorrow’s Game 5 against the Clippers.

Re: Luka Dončić: The word sprain lets us know the injury involves a connective tissue (ligament or joint capsule). However, it is difficult to estimate a recovery timeline without knowing the specific structure involved. Each ligament carries its own unique timeline and treatment – 4:41 PM

More on this storyline

Doncic has been congested since at least Game 3 in Dallas, after which he coughed and sniffled through much of his postgame interview. Asked whether he is surprised that he’s still ill, Doncic said yes. “Yeah. I took pills, but nothing is helping, so I just got used to it.” -via Dallas Morning News / May 1, 2024
Luka Doncic sported a fresh haircut during the Mavericks’ Wednesday morning shootaround in Crypto.com Arena — but his new look didn’t mask, or help, two lingering and concerning health issues entering Wednesday night’s pivotal Game 5 against the Clippers. Doncic didn’t do much running, but when he did anything more than jog his movements were stiff. He said after shootaround that it’s too soon to tell whether extra day between Games 4 and 5 helped mend the right knee sprain that he suffered in Game 3. “We’ll see today. I didn’t do nothing full [in shootaround], so we’ll see today in the game.” -via Dallas Morning News / May 1, 2024
Doncic said he did very little during shootaround and didn’t test his knee in terms of cutting or jumping. “Nothing, honestly. Just treatment, a lot of treatments. Fitness. But basketball, I just shot. Nothing explosive.” How close to normal does he feel illness-wise? “I’m good. Ready for the game. Happy to be here. Just ready for the game.” When asked how his knee feels, Doncic said: “Not good. It could be way better, but it is what it is.” -via Dallas Morning News / May 1, 2024
