The Seattle U men’s basketball team signed 6-foot-8 graduate transfer Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe, the team announced Wednesday.

Moncrieffe will be playing in his fifth season following stints with Georgia and Oklahoma State for two seasons apiece. From 2022-24 with Georgia, Moncrieffe averaged 3.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game and shot 49% on field goals. The forward played in 44 games, starting 30.

Moncrieffe was a four-star recruit by ESPN out of high school in Toronto and was the 64th-ranked overall recruit, according to 247Sports.

He is the Redhawks’ third signee for next season.

Men’s golf

• The Washington men’s golf team earned a No. 2 seed for the NCAA tournament and will play in the Rancho Santa Fe Regional from May 13-15.

Arizona earned the top seed for the regional in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Oklahoma, Cal, Oklahoma State, North Florida, Chattanooga, South Florida, San Diego, West Virginia, Kansas, Wright State, Seton Hall and Winthrop are the rest of the regional’s competitors. The top five teams will advance to the NCAA championships.

Minors

Andrew Pintar hit a home run and host Everett (8-15) won 7-1 over Hillsboro (10-13).

• Visiting Tacoma (17-12) lost to Sacramento (19-10) by a score of 6-3. The Rainiers managed just five hits in the contest.
