The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has released the results for the Madhyamik 10th examinations 2024, igniting jubilant celebrations among students, parents, and educators statewide. With an impressive overall pass percentage of 86.31%, the achievements reflect the diligence and perseverance of the student body. Noteworthy among the outcomes is the attainment of the first division by over 1.18 lakh students, constituting 12.98% of the total candidates.

While the board announced the cancellation of exams for 46 candidates and withheld results for two, a striking observation is the increased participation of female candidates, outnumbering their male counterparts significantly. This year's Madhyamik results, with highlights including notable individual performances and a total of 9.10 lakh students appearing for the exams, mark a significant milestone in the academic landscape of West Bengal.
Gaps between male and female students

Enrollment and Participation
• Total enrollment shows a higher proportion of female students, with 480,202 females compared to 396,476 males, indicating a gender ratio of 55:45.

• However, in terms of those who appeared for the exams, the gap narrows, with 477,134 females and 394,705 males taking the test, maintaining a similar gender ratio.
Success Rates
• Despite a higher enrollment and participation of female students, the success rate among males is notable, with 89.21% of male candidates passing compared to 83.9% of females. This reflects a gender ratio of successful candidates at 53:47.
• Among continuing candidates, the success rate is significantly higher for both genders, with 91.66% for males and 89.34% for females.
Compartmental Exams
• A small percentage of students became eligible for compartmental exams, with 0.18% of males and 0.23% of females qualifying, maintaining a similar gender ratio.
• However, the compartmental pass rates present a stark contrast, with 8.33% of males passing compared to 10.65% of females.
Unsuccessful Candidates
• The data also highlights the number of unsuccessful candidates, with 41,795 males and 75,652 females failing to pass the exams, reflecting a gender ratio of 37:63 for unsuccessful candidates.
• The percentage of unsuccessful males stands at 10.58%, while for females, it is higher at 15.85%.

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has released detailed data on the Madhyamik Pariksha (Secondary Examination) for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, revealing nuanced gender-specific statistical features.
Scheduled Caste Candidates
• Enrollment: Among SC candidates, 108,052 females and 126,590 males were enrolled, with a gender ratio of 46:54.
• Participation: Of these, 10,668 SC females and 12,590 SC males appeared for the exams, maintaining a similar gender ratio.
• Success Rate: The success rate among SC candidates was 30:70 for females and males, with 30% of females and 70% of males passing the exam.
• Compartmental Exams: A total of 198 SC candidates became eligible for compartmental exams, with a gender ratio of 23:77.
Scheduled Tribe Candidates
• Enrollment: Among ST candidates, 22,683 males and 28,035 females were enrolled, with a gender ratio of 45:55.
• Participation: 22,505 ST males and 27,807 females appeared for the exams, maintaining a similar gender ratio.
• Success Rate: The success rate among ST candidates was 32:68 for females and males, with 32% of females and 68% of males passing the exam.
• Compartmental Exams: A total of 55 ST candidates became eligible for compartmental exams, with a gender ratio of 27:73.
