After signing veteran quarterback Russell Wilson earlier this offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly have been working the phones to try to add a top-flight wide receiver for him.

According to Benjamin Allbright of KOA Radio in Colorado, the Steelers have made calls to multiple teams in hopes of prying away a No. 1 receiver. Those players reportedly include DK Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks, Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers and Courtland Sutton of the Denver Broncos.

They called about Aiyuk and Sutton and have been rebuffed, at least with opening talks. Called about DK, I don't believe a trade would get done there until after june first (if one got done at all).

Aiyuk and Sutton are believed to be open to trades due to their respective contract situations. Aiyuk is entering the final year of his rookie deal and has not been shy about his desire for an extension.

Sutton, who has two years left on his deal, skipped voluntary workouts due to his unhappiness with having just $2 million in guaranteed money. He spent the last two seasons as Wilson's primary receiver in Denver, so he would likely be open to a reunion in Pittsburgh.

Metcalf would also be an intriguing option for the Steelers due to his previous connection with Wilson. The 26-year-old spent the first two-plus seasons of his career catching passes from Wilson, and he set a career-high with 1,303 receiving yards in his sophomore campaign in 2020.

Adding any of these receivers would be impressive acquisitions for the Steelers as they try to return to the playoffs in 2024 with Wilson leading the way.
