Hi, hello, there’s a new(ish) character in the Vanderpump Rules cinematic universe, and you already know we’re on the case. 🫡 The Bravo reality series is 13 episodes deep into its 11th season, and we’ve already seen a ton of things change post-Scandoval. For starters... Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix pretty much went no-contact although they lived in the same house when they were filming season 11. At the time, all necessary communications went through their respective assistants—which is completely fair after their relationship blew up in front of the entire world. As of March 2024, Ariana reportedly moved out and bought her own home in L.A.

If you pledge allegiance to VPR, then you know Tom has parted ways with his assistant who appeared on the show, Ann Maddox. You’re probably wondering what the hell happened with our queen—Ann—and who Tom’s working with now. Enter: Tom Sandoval’s new assistant, Craig Johns Jr. Here’s everything we know about him and the situation.

Who is Tom Sandoval’s new assistant, Craig?

Although Craig Johns Jr. just replaced Ann on Vanderpump Rules season 11, you might already recognize him as one of the bartenders at Schwartz and Sandy’s. Craig is also friends with Tom Schwartz, Kyle Chan, and Jo Wenberg, who posted a pic with him in November 2022.

The editor, actor, and musician has since signed on as Tom’s assistant, and according to his boss, they’re “kind of a duo.”

So, what exactly does Craig do?

Fabulous Q! Remember when I mentioned Tom and Ariana’s no-contact situation? Well, Craig is essentially the middleman for the pair—meaning he relays messages from Tom to Ariana and checks if the coast is clear in their Valley Village house.

Case in point: During episode 13, Craig grabs a few things from their home gym and checks in with Ariana, asking, “Do you know how long you’re gonna be in here? [Tom] wanted to get in a workout at some point as well.”

In the 12th episode of VPR season 11, Tom revealed that “things didn’t work out with Ann.”

ICYMI, Ariana was also overwhelmed by her living situation with Tom and was in dire need of an assistant. Ann then offered herself for the job, and while Ariana didn’t end up hiring her, she revealed the reason she’d considered working with Ann.

“Things might get a little rough with my roommate if I poach his assistant, but, I mean, he didn’t respect me enough to not fuck my friend while I was at my grandma’s funeral, so I should be stealing his assistant gleefully,” Ariana dished.

Instead, Ann started working with Ariana and Katie Maloney to help them open their sandwich shop, Something About Her, after parting ways with Sandoval.
