While a Marshon Lattimore trade has been discussed by GMs around the league, New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said the team is "not actively trying to trade" him.

In an interview with Mad Dog Sports Radio's Adam Schein (h/t Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper), Loomis said that it would take the right offer to trade Lattimore:

"When a guy is a really good player for your team, they're not on the market per se, but there are times when you get a call and somebody makes a proposal and it might make sense for you. That's true for any player on your team. If you get an offer you can't refuse, you at least have to look at it. So, that's what I would say. I'm not actively trying to trade Marshon. Marshon is such a good player, he's an elite corner. He's had some injuries the last couple seasons that have kept him off the field, and we've got to get over that. It's not his fault, it's just circumstances. That's just where we're at."

Lattimore, a seven-year veteran who has spent his entire career with the Saints, had a productive season in 2023 despite playing just 10 games. He notched 48 tackles and eight passes deflected before injuring his right ankle in Week 10 and missing the remainder of the year.

In April, Loomis said that he doesn't "like trading players that have been contributors for us," per NOLA.com's Luke Johnson, which could give Lattimore some assurance that he will remain in New Orleans next season.

But the Saints did add depth to the cornerback position by drafting Alabama star Kool-Aid McKinstry in the second round of the NFL draft, so it's still unclear what New Orleans will do on defense heading into next season.

The Saints had a solid defense last season, but its offensive woes kept it from being a playoff-contending team, so that might be the place to focus this offseason.

After missing the postseason in 2023, New Orleans has now failed to reach the playoffs in three consecutive seasons and has had less than 10 wins each year during that span.

The Saints were an NFC South powerhouse from 2017 to 2020, winning the division in four straight seasons and reaching the NFC Championship in 2018. New Orleans is looking to turn things around this year, and keeping a veteran like Lattimore could help with that quest.
