Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2024: The Best Rosé Champagnes And Sparkling Wines

Following

Rosé Champagnes and sparkling wines are both elegant and refined—which is how every mother should be made to feel on Mother’s Day. Perrine Prieur mother of two children and owner/founder of Perrine’s Wine Shop (with three locations across Atlanta that offer smartly curated wine selections) notes that rosé is a “wonderful choice for Mother's Day because it offers a light and refreshing taste that is perfect for celebrating. Its beautiful pink color also adds a touch of elegance and femininity to any occasion.” It’s also lower in alcohol that most other wines (around 12%) and notes Prieur, “What makes rosé even more special is the versatility it offers. It pairs well with a variety of foods, from light salads to seafood dishes, making it a versatile option for a Mother's Day brunch or dinner. Heavier rosé Champagne can also be a option for red meat.” You can’t go wrong if Rose Sparkling is on the gift list; here’s what to look for:

Perrine’s Picks

NV Le Vigne di Alice “Ose” Brut Rosé, Vino Spumante, Veneto, Italy: While not technically a prosecco (because it's not 100% Glera), it comes from the same region. Osé Nature has zero dosage so it's dry but fruity on the nose. Cinzia Canzian started the winery and named it after her Grandmother, Alice. $25.99

2022 Domaine Sérol "Turbullent" Rosé, Côte Roannaise, Loire Valley, France: I absolutely love this Sparkling Rosé- 100% Gamay from the best Producer in the Côte Roannaise. If you’ve never heard of this region, you aren't alone. It's technically part of Loire valley, and this is made in the Ancestral Method, with low pressure compared to Champagne and slight sweetness. A Perfect breakfast-brunch wine. $29.99

Other Selections—California

Mantanzas Creek Sparkling Brut Rosé: Delicate rose-petal pink hues make this one a beauty in the glass, but the palate of wild strawberry and rhubarb will steal the show. The mousse-like texture is nicely balanced with crisp acidity and a whiff of orange peel. $70

Frank Family Vineyards Brut Rosé, 2017: Made from 100% pinot nor grapes, this classic sparkling from Frank Family delivers with pretty berry fruit notes supported by a refreshing pop of citrus. $60

Inman Extra Brut Luxe Cuvee, 2018: Winemaker Kathleen Inman wove in a bit of pinot gris into this blend of chardonnay and pinot noir to lend it another layer of richness—and then let it rest for four years on the lees. Mom will love this ultra-complex bubbly’s mousse-like texture and notes of ripe apple and brioche. $90

Dutcher Crossing Grace Reserve Brut Rosé: Refreshing and racy, this sparkling brings pretty pink hues to the glass along with savory, mouth-watering notes of raspberry, green apple and lemon cream. $59

Imagery Estate Brut Rosé: Notes of wild strawberry and juicy peach lend this California sparkling a floral, refreshing flavor profile. With its pleasing aromas and petal-pink hues this one is a perfect choice for a Mother’s Day afternoon on the patio. $45

Chandon Reserve Pinot Noir Rosé: This expression is made of pinot noir grown in the Carneros region—lending the wine a polished, fresh profile. Notes of 36 months of aging on the lees give it a decadent mouthfeel ripe with raspeberry and currant notes. $45

Italy

Berlucchi '61 Rosé: This is a lovely Italian sparkling wine made in the same way that Champagne is made. Juicy on the palate with notes of wild strawberry, peaches and a bit of lemon-cream. The ’61 reference in the name is a nod to the winery’s first vintage of sparkling wine, the 1961 “Pinot di Franciacorta.” $51.99

Cantina Zaccagnini Tralcetto Brut Rosé IGT: A marvelous sparkling from Italy’s lesser-known Abruzzo region. Made from 100% Montepulciano, the wine sparkles with delicate pink hues. The palate is fresh and zesty with notes of cherry and orange peel. While beautiful on its own, it pairs well as an aperitif, with fresh oysters, grilled seafood and chicken $23

France

Champagne Palmer Rosé Solera: This Rosé Solera represents a unique vinification with 8% coming from a solera of Pinot Noir that was started 40 years ago and kept in stainless steel tanks as a reserve. The palate is rich and complex with notes of ripe raspberry, strawberry, ginger and a mousse-like texture. Delicious. $91.99

Champagne Henriot Rosé NV: A fresh, minerally expression of delicate fruits – wild strawberry, currant—tempered with a bit of spice. Blended from pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier, this is a sophisticated sparkling wine that will surely make mom feel special. $69.99

Veuve Clicquot Rosé x SMEG Fridge: Most mom’s will be familiar with Veuve—it’s always a classic—but this year’s expression comes in a fetching retro pink fridge packaging designed to keep the bottle chilled up to two hours. All the better to enjoy the wine’s notes of raspberry, citrus peel and currant.
