ANTIOCH – An hours-long lockdown of an Antioch neighborhood ended Monday evening with the arrest of a Central Valley homicide suspect, according to authorities.

“Thank you all for your patience,” the Antioch Police Department said in a social media post around 5:10 p.m. “We have arrested a homicide suspect out of Stockton.”

Additional details about the case were not immediately available. A message left with the Stockton Police Department seeking information on the homicide was not returned.

The incident started shortly before 2 p.m., when authorities used the Contra Costa County emergency warning system to tell residents in the area of Gentrytown Drive and Putnam Street to seek shelter.

“Go inside, close and lock all windows and doors,” the message said. “Stay off the phone and do not call 911 unless you need to report a life-threatening emergency.”

Police were pursuing a 28-year-old suspect who fled the area, according to the message.
